EXPANDing your Horizons…

EXPAND is a Public Sector-wide network of Executive Assistants and Personal Assistants and those in equivalent positions.

The formation of EXPAND was a major outcome of The Challenge to Change Conference which was sponsored by the Department of Primary Industries and Energy and the Public Service Commission. The conference was held in March 1995 in Canberra and a total of 430 delegates from 50 Commonwealth Government departments and agencies attended.

Following the conference a number of departments and agencies set up their own departmental EA networks. EXPAND is an incorporated body and holds Ratifying committee meetings on 6 occasions during the year. Executive Assistants from departments/agencies can attend these meetings. The Executive Committee is appointed at the Annual General Meeting held in October each year.

EXPAND and its Charter was formally launched by its then Patron, Mr Sandy Hollway, Secretary of the Department of Industry Science and Technology, in September 1995.

Mr Mike Taylor, Secretary, Department of Transport and Regional Services is the current Patron.

All EAs in the Public sector are automatically members of EXPAND and new members are welcome.

EXPAND seeks to:
